Blog 4: Progress, Rescues, and New Arrivals

The past few weeks at Dogs of Africa have been filled with major progress and touching stories. It’s incredible to see our project taking shape and to witness how many dogs we’ve already been able to help. Here’s an update on our latest developments:

Construction Progress

The work on our site is advancing rapidly, and thanks to the dedication and hard work of our team, we’ve achieved significant milestones:

  1. Dog Houses Completed:

    • A total of six dog houses have been built: two in the puppy area and four for the future dog boarding facility.
    • The puppy area still requires some finishing touches, such as wall improvements, minor cleaning, and decorative elements.
    • The boarding area is also taking shape, though some cleaning and beautification work still needs to be done.
  2. Fences and Storage Hut:

    • Fences have been installed and reinforced to ensure a safe environment.
    • A small storage hut has been built to keep blankets, food, and other essential supplies for the dogs.

Rescue Stories: Bringing Dogs to Safety

  1. Saving a Puppy in Danger:
Last week, we rescued a puppy from a busy main road. A car made an emergency stop, and we immediately stepped in to save the little one, who was disoriented, dirty, and covered in ticks.

    • No mother was found nearby, and we estimate the puppy to be around seven weeks old.
    • We took him in, cleaned him up, and provided care.
    • In just two days, we found him a loving family!
  2. Bella’s Story:
Our rescued stray dog, Bella, who was heavily pregnant, has now found a safe place in our puppy area. Last week, she gave birth:

    • Unfortunately, one puppy did not survive, but three healthy puppies are now safe with us.
    • We are looking for loving homes for them, and anyone interested is welcome to reach out!

All Puppies Have Found Homes!

We are thrilled to announce that all previously rescued puppies have now been adopted. However, one of them will remain with us and continue to be part of our Dogs of Africa family.

Vaccination Campaign for Our Dogs

Recently, we organized a vaccination campaign to protect our dogs from diseases and ensure their long-term health and safety.

New Additions for Our Adopters

  1. A Welcome Bag for Adopters:
We have designed a bag made from recycled materials featuring our logo, which will be given to every family adopting a puppy.

    • It includes small essentials, such as food samples, to help make the transition smoother.
    • Soon, we will be adding more items, such as play balls and dog towels.
  2. A Meaningful Keepsake:
This bag is not only practical but also a reminder of the adopters’ support for our mission.

Next Steps

We are now focusing on:
Finishing and decorating the site.
Beautifying the space to make it more welcoming.
Final cleaning and construction work before fully launching our services.

Conclusion

The past few weeks have shown just how important our project is and how much we can accomplish with dedication and support. Every new structure, every rescue, and every adoption brings us closer to our goal: giving dogs a second chance and a better life.
